 Summer Reading 2020

June 15th - August 31st

Summer Reading is going virtual this year!

Teens & Adults (ages 11-111) who participate will receive 5 raffle tickets per book read and Children (ages 10 and under) who participate will receive 1 raffle ticket per book read which will also go into a virtual drawing (more on that below).

Since everything is happening online, you will want to make an account on the book-logging website Beanstack so that you can track your reading (no physical logs will be accepted this year!) Beanstack is also available as an iOS and Android app for quick logging on the go!

Check back here next week for a link to get started as well as an informational video on how to sign up.

This year we've teamed up with the Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) and its 70+ member libraries to bring you a calendar full of exciting virtual events and social media content geared towards kids and families. This will include storytimes, STEM activities, teen/tween programs, and more!

Follow ACLA Youth Services and Crafton Public Library on Facebook to see updates when new content is posted. You can find a weekly calendar of events at the link below:

Weekly BINGO Card

For each of the eight weeks of countywide summer reading, a new bingo card will be featured that provides reading prompts and activities that correspond with the weekly theme. Participants must complete one bingo card before submitting to aclasummerreading@einetwork.net or their local participating library. Maximum of two cards per participant. A different prize will be distributed randomly each week to those who submit a completed bingo card.

Share pictures of your adventures completing the bingo card by tagging ACLA Youth Services and using the hashtags #aclasummerreading2020 or #aclasummerbingocard.

We will post a downloadable link to each week's BINGO card here once they are available.

Though the library is still currently closed to the public, there are a number of ways you can still access library resources and find things to read during this time. Here are a couple options that you have:

Use Library E-Resources

Our library provides you with access to a variety of e-books, audiobooks, and magazines through apps like Hoopla, Overdrive, Libby, and Flipster. Check out our "Resources" page for more information on these apps.

Keep an Eye Out for Curbside

We will soon be starting no-contact curbside service so that we can get physical library books back in your hands! Check back here soon for more information about how our curbside service program will work.
